Forsta Filters Announces Self-Cleaning Screen Filters in Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP)*

Forsta Filters’ exciting new FRP Series offers an ideal solution for corrosion resistance
in brackish, brine and seawater filtration applications. All wetted components of the
FRP Series self-cleaning filters are constructed from seawater-resistant plastic and
other high alloy materials, making it the only one of its kind. The FRP Series filters can
withstand pressures up to 150 psi and feature all the same great benefits of Forsta
Filters’ stainless steel self-cleaning water filters.

Forsta’s FRP Series self-cleaning water filters are available with an on-line, or in-line
flange configuration to accommodate simple installation, and easily integrate with any
pipeline. A two-stage screening process distinguishes the FRP Series filters. A coarse
screen is responsible for straining out large debris from the water source, and the fine
screen purifies water to the designated micron rating. As with all Forsta self-cleaning
filters, the FRP filter’s short backwash cycle never interrupts the main system flow.

Filter Characteristics:

• Flow Rate: 15-20,000 gpm
• Flush cycle duration: 6 - 12 seconds
• Flush valve size: single 1” or a single 2”
• Screen opening: 5μ - 4000μ
• Temperature: 210ºF
• Flush Volume: 2- 50 gallons per backwash
• Working pressure: 35- 150 psi

Forsta Filters Attends the 2011 Membrane Technology Conference & Exposition and Introduces the FRP Series of Self-Cleaning Filters*

*Patent Pending

Forsta Filters Director of Sales Polly Stenberg met with membrane technology companies to discuss the advantages (in membrane protection/prefiltration) of self-cleaning screen filters over other filter technologies, as well as the performance edge of Forsta Filters over other self-cleaning manufacturers.

Stenberg met with representatives from GE, Siemens, Pall, Veolia/Kruger, Hdyranautics, Dow, Doosan, Tonka, Layne, Wigen and more explaining that,

“Not only do Forsta Filters offer superior integration of internal components, lower flush volumes, and larger amount of open screen area than other self-cleaning manufacturers, Forsta Filters is now proud to announce that we are the only self-cleaning screen filter company offering our filters in Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP).”

The exciting new FRP Series offers an ideal solution for corrosion resistance in brackish, brine and seawater filtration applications. All wetted components of the FRP filters are constructed from seawater-resistant plastic or other high alloy materials, making it the only one of its kind.  The FRP Series filters can withstand pressures up to 150 psi and feature all the same great benefits of Forsta Filters’ standard self-cleaning water filters.

Forsta’s FRP Series self-cleaning water filters are available with an on-line, or in-line flange configuration to accommodate simple installation, and easily integrate with any pipeline.  A two-stage screening process distinguishes the FRP Series filters. A coarse screen is responsible for straining out large debris from the water source, and the fine screen purifies water to the designated micron rating.  As with all Forsta self-cleaning filters, the FRP filter’s short backwash cycle never interrupts the main system flow.

FRP Series Filter Characteristics:
      Flow Rate: 15-20,000 gpm
      Flush cycle duration: 6 - 12 seconds
Flush valve size: single 1" or a single 2"
      Screen opening: 5µ - 4000µ
      Temperature: 210ºF
Flush Volume: 2- 30 gallons per backwash
   Working pressure: 35- 150 psi

Stenberg concluded, “The membrane technology conference was a tremendous experience.  It was wonderful to hear of so much interest in Forsta Filters and the FRP Series.  At Forsta we are really excited to get started with FRP installations, as we know it will help companies resolve the major headache of filter corrosion in harsh water environments.”
